What do the Grads wear during the ceremony?
- They can wear whatever they choose, underneath their Grad gown, Some students dress up, some are more casual. It is truly whatever they wish. The only requirement is the gown, cap, sash, and tassel.
Can anyone buy tickets to the ceremony?
- No. Grads and their immediate approved family members may purchase. If that does not include you, you MUST have the grad present at the time of purchase to confirm that they approve. It is our Grad's day, and want to try to make it as special as we can for them. They have final say as to who they wish to be in attendance for them.
Where do you purchase extra tickets?
- Direct through the school, at the front counter in The Office. There is no maximum number allowed, although if you wish to purchase more than 30, this will be approved by our Principal. You can pay cash, or debit, or visa, or mastercard.
How many tickets are Grads given for free for friends/family to attend?
- TBD
Do kids and grad escort need a ticket?
- For the graduation ceremony where Grads receive their diploma, everyone except the Grad that would require a seat, would require a ticket.
How much are extra tickets?
- They are TBD each, and there is no limit
How long is the ceremony?
- Every year it has been different. Typically it is 2hr, give or take. If you have any appointments after the ceremony, we recommend being on the safe side, and approximating up to 3 hours. We, as well as you, hope it does not extend that amount of time
How much is the Grad fee?
- Grad fee for the 2025-2026 year is: TBD per student and must be paid in full in order to participate in the graduation ceremonies.
What is the Grad fee for?
- The Grad fee is a charge for each student who participates in grad-related activities to offset the costs. These include the 5 tickets for friends/family, arena rental, decorating, handshake photo, grad cap and gown and tassel, sound & lighting, live streaming, etc.
What do I wear as a guest to commencement?
- You can wear whatever you choose, there is no dress code for quests.
When do I wear my dressy prom dress or suit?
- You wear your dressy attire for your "Grande March" and your "PROM". This portion of Graduation day is not affiliated with Grande Prairie Composite High School. Typically you participate in your "Grande March" and proceeding that, you can choose to participate in your "PROM". However to state once again - NONE of the Prom nor the Grande March is affiliated with GPCHS, this portion is all parent led.
When is the Grande March?
- The same day as your cap and gown ceremony, however later in the evening.
- However for any other answers, you must go to the Facebook Page - GP Comp Grad 2025
- We kindly ask that you refer to the provided Facebook Page for all questions or inquiries. As The Comp is not affiliated at all with your Grande Marche NOR your prom, we will not presume to know the correct answers on anything related to this.
I have heard in the announcements that I need to head to student services to be measured for my grad gown, why and what is being measured?
- All Grads need to go to STUDENT SERVICES to have your height measured ONLY. We simply need your height as these are all ordered specifically for you, so your gown is neither too short nor too long.
- If you prefer, you don't need to be actually measured by someone is students services, you can instead simply let them know what your height is.
- Your height needs to be recorded no later than February so we can ensure that they arrive in plenty of time to get them to all the GRAD students.
I can't afford a gown or a suit, can you help?
- Finishing Touch Society can assist students and families for whom cost of formal wear is restrictive. You must apply for this and the deadline for applications is TBD. For an application please go to Student Services.

Do you have meetings for Grads?
Yes, please see below for all set meeting dates. These meetings are held within the school during the student's lunch hour. Meetings will be held on Thursdays, please pay attention to your Grad google classroom. IF set on those days, the following would be dates for upcoming.

Do we NEED to get a grad photo taken?
Yes, if you want your GRAD photo in your yearbook.
- This is not a “classic” session, which is something you can choose to purchase photos from, this is just a sitting for the yearbook and the fee is $37.95.
- This portrait is taken simply for the yearbook, it is NOT possible to order this at any time.
